Tristan’s Two-Fish-ted Adventure

My name is Tristan Simon. I live in Burlington, ON. I am 6 years old. Last year, 2006, in August My dad ,Trevor, and I helped my Grandpa and Grandma Simon, Fran and Andy, move from Mississauga, ON to Pinchgut Lake, NL. It was my first trip to Newfoundland. I sure did a lot of things I would never be able to do in Burlington. First we went to a place called Cox Cove - there I met my very favourite singer, Lloyd Snow; it was great. Then we went on a big boat and toured the Bay of Islands. A few days later, we went to Cape St. George - that's where Grandpa grew up - and a friend of his took us in his boat to go cod fishing. Well, I put that gig line into the ocean and caught 7 big codfish. Grandpa helped me pull them in 'cause my arms got too sore. Dad and Grandpa caught some small ones (7 or 8 lbs.); mine were all over 20 lbs. I am sending you a picture of 2 - one is 23 lbs. and the other is 25 lbs. Grandpa said he would have fish for the winter. You sure can't do that in Burlington. Back at Pinchgut Lake, Grandpa's friend Mitt took us on a trouting trip. We caught a few, and he showed me how to drive his quad. We saw lots of moose, foxes and rabbits too. I had fun in Newfoundland. I am going back in July 2007. I think everyone should go there and see Grandpa and have lots of fun like I did.
