On the invitation to send pictures of war veterans in your november issue, I am including a picture of my father-in-law Ambrose Torraville of Fogo. I do not know the names of the three men with him in the picture. Note the fur leggings on the man sitting. Mr. Torraville trained on the HMS Briton, and sailed on the HMS Caesar in the First World War.

He was on a ship in Halifax Harbour when the great explosion took place. At that time he was injured when thrown up against a wall, an injury he suffered for most of his life. Ambrose's brother also served in the war with him. He was Harvey Torraville who later became an Anglican clergy. (Rev. Harvey Torraville later lived at Portugal Cove.)   Submitted By: NULL
