Thoughts on Nicknames
The following is what I read from the Internet.Must be True You Say!
-
The impact of a nickname on an individual’s work experience can be significant, leading to stress and decreased morale.1
It’s important to consider the context and the potential for the nickname to cause offense or discrimination when using them in a professional setting.
- Growing up around the Bay Nicknames were Common.
- For instance a Tall man was called Long.Long Joe White or Long Ed Power.
- If a man was short. He was referred to as little.Little Paddy Peddle.
- A big Woman with red Hair was called Big Red.
- Lots of men with the same name because if Grand Fathers name was Tom.Then the Son was named Tom
- So Tom Curtis was Backside Tom because he lived by the Backside. The other Tom was called Tom Bob because his Father was Bob.
- My poor Brother In-Law had a Brush fire that got out of hand and he is called Scorch.
- Mostly all in fun.Nicknames can stay with a person for a life time.
- Is that right Wacker? The times they are a Changing.
