Those green blades of grass beneath my feet
Oh how they make my garden so neat
They'€™ve been growing there for hundreds of years
Walked on and used by ancestral forebearers

Cut with a scythe and used to feed cattle
By the sweat of the brow it was an uphill battle
Dried in the summer for use through the year
When cold, frost and snow began to come near

The greatest carpet the world has ever seen
Is the grassy fields so lush and so clean
Nature untouched by modern construction
The peach not destroyed by technological disruption

The valleys, the natural amphitheatre settings
Untouched by the ravages of economic netting
The green of which reflects the pure light
Of the most positive force that guards against light

As children we played and ran in the grass
Played ball, hide and seek, as time it did pass
Wallowing in the joy of such a great mystery
Yet not understanding evolutionary history

The warm summer breezes caressing the flowers
Amidst the green grass contemplated for hours
By those who are hungering for genuine peace
From the one whose presence will never cease

As I visit the place where my ancestors were living
The grass is still growing as nature keeps giving
My ancestors footpaths still evidenced there
I'm in awe and wonder as I shed inner tears
