Thorung La Pass
Brian MacPhee, left, originally of Goose Bay, now St. John's, and Paul Delaney of St. John's, on April 10, 2012 at Thorung La Pass on the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. The pass stands at 5416m and we did the climb in the harder reverse, going clockwise from Jompson, climbed 1050m to Muktinath and then next day a steep 1600m climb that took 7hrs,50 minutes to the pass. It was hard!! Finished with another 2 hrs 20 minutes downhill to Thorung Phedi at 4450m...and a beer!! We became legends of the trek and our guide had the best time telling people, especially locals, that these two "old guys" were the actual ones that had come the other way, as the feat preceded us.
