This Island
This Island
I have sailed her ocean waters
From the north and to the south
There are lots of things I don't know
But I know without a doubt
No matter where I travel
No matter where I roam
This island we call Newfoundland
Will always be my home
This Island is my home
She's home sweet home to me
From rugged shore
To rugged shore
Anchored in the deep blue sea
And when my days are over
You'll know just where I'll be
Wrapped in the arms
Of her embrace
Is where they'll bury me
I have seen the snow-capped Rockies
In the middle of July
I have seen the wheat filled prairies
Across a clear blue sky
I have watched the dolphins
Swimming in the Caribbean sea
But there's one place in this whole world
That means the world to me
I have felt the ocean breezes
From the Gulf of Mexico
I been to the Rio Grande
In the town of Del Rio
I have tasted crystal waters
From a Yukon mountain stream
But my final rest in her caress
Will be my final dream
This Island is my home
