Think of Me Darling

Think of Me Darling

Think of Me Darling

Oh flower of my heart there blooming
Amongst the bracken cold and stark
You might have broken my heart no doubt
And forever on me left your mark

From early age of just nineteen
When first I saw you on the beach
I fervently hoped from that time forward
To have you always within my reach

There was something about your sweet sweet smile
And slender form so inviting there
That caused me to surrender myself
Completely to your charms so fair

And in the intervening years my love
Has grown in leaps and bounds
Until by now my dear you should know
There was non other for me ever to be found

And every morning when I looked
Into your eyes so radient there
They reminded me of the morning stars
So dark and round and fervently clear

As years went fleeting by my love
I swore there was non other there
To whom I really could hold tight
Seeing you lying there so soft and fair

I long right now without a doubt
To hold you fervently close to my breast
But I am away miles in a prison cell
And tonorrow will come my time of rest

When the padre comes to take me away
To my final and inevitable test
When they put me slowly and silently away
To my final and eternal rest

So think of me darling as you go bout your day
Think kindly and know it well
That I have loved you beyond all else
And greater than words can tell

John Cornick
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Submitted By: John Cornick
