Their Branch
Submitted March 30, 2010
Your article on Branch in the April issue inspired this one:
Their Branch
Branching out and inward, too,
this town has got a point of view,
and shall avail, to tell its tale,
of opportunity, and its crew.
A settlement on our old Cape Shore,
That’s Irish to its very core,
Just like its brothers, on that coast,
To their auld roots, I make this toast.
Hardy fishers dwell therein,
And proud they are of where they’ve been,
Though many left to take a chance,
They never will forget their Branch.
