The White Dress
It's summer and the earth has on her dress of green.
Through sunshine and rain the red roses can be seen.
Watching the squirrels playing outside my window pane
And chasing each other until the sun does wane.
How wonderful the scent of sweet summer's rain
To see the whole world blooming again.
For all too soon all things will die
And I will have to sit and cry.
But it will all change and the earth will wear her dress of brown
And the leaves will soon ring the maple trees around.
The wind will come and make a whirling leafy mess.
So for the earth will have to put on her white winter dress
To keep herself warm form winter's chilly night
And we'll wish again for summer's warming light.
Lord help me to be happy with this present summer's day
And not keep wishing my short life away.
Please Lord help this poor mortal learn
To smell the roses along the way
And give thanks for just one more day.
Submitted By: NULL
