The Weight of Home
In the quiet of this town, I’m lost,
A heart that once knew love now pays the cost.
I’ve come back to the place where roots should grow,
But all I feel is the ache of letting go.
A loveless marriage, like a silent scream,
We fight in the corners of forgotten dreams.
Words like knives that cut through the air,
A life that feels empty, nothing to share.
Her parents’ eyes, full of scorn and doubt,
A welcome that's colder than any drought.
They never wanted me here, I can tell,
Yet here I stand, trapped in this lonely shell.
No friends to call, no one to confide,
Just the echoes of voices that never collide.
I long for a life that felt light and free,
Before the weight of this town buried me.
The darkness creeps in, steady and slow,
A cloud overhead that won't let me go.
The joy that once flickered is fading away,
As I drown in the silence of another long day.
But I still dream of a time when I was whole,
When love was a fire, and hope filled my soul.
Now I'm just a shadow, waiting for light,
In the emptiness of this perpetual night.
