The Stars of Night
Prickles of light line up in the sky
shimmering as the earth rolls by.
The closest one being our sun
exiting the horizon one by one.
Big and small, some faintly seen
some so bright they reflect on my being.
With my binoculars, more closer views
their pulsating light in its radiant hues.
A billion in our galaxy they say
planets revolving each in their days.
One wonders how much life is out there.
Are there human beings scattered everywhere?
Is there life with intelligence greater than ours?
From whence came all those meteor showers?
Are they the language presented to us
over which we debate and fuss?
The questions go on never ending,
our assumed answers may always be pending
our revelations that never cease
our wisdom and our knowledge to ever increase.
A million or billion galaxies out there.
I am in awe as I stand here and stare.
Far greater knowledge lies in wait
to be revealed through heaven's gate.
Much more than I can comprehend,
left to my creator with no beginning or end.
The order of stars belongs to He
who evolved all nature, including me.
My woeful inadequate understanding
of all out there that's so demanding
leads me to be humble as I must,
standing on earth's mysterious crust.
