the schooner Jean Smith
During the 80's in St. John's I acquired a painting of the schooner JEAN SMITH and always wondered who painted it. Perhaps your readers could help. The ships story is that the vessel was owned by a Mr. Smith who used the ship to supply his trading post on venison island out of Carbonear? I don't know if that's true, but his daughter was likely Jean or maybe Jean was his wife's name. Amazingly enough, a cook on a Husky Bow Valley supply vessel recognized the style of painting as that of a very old regular at the legion in Carbonear during the 50's. Submitted By: NULL
