"We sailed by Lamaline Lighthouse We were headed for St. Pierre The wind was from the north west The sky was very clear . Our schooner was quite heavy We had a load of sand The fog came in, we found ourselves On the rocks of Newfoundland. And now our schooner's grounded The tide is very low We'll had to wait 'till the tide comes back In hopes that we can go . About six O'clock that evening The tide was rising fast Our keel it wasn't damaged And we sailed off at last. And now while on our way again French Island we did land We're happy to be far away From the rocks of Newfoundland . Soon we'll bid them all good bye We were happy on our way And happy to be back again In our home in Fortune bay .
