The Rock
Submitted November 12, 2009 Here is a picture of my daughter Morgan, a Grade 8 student at Holy Spirit Catholic School in Devon, Alberta. She is holding her school poetry project "A concrete poem" which she presented as a message in a bottle (written on a Newfoundland map) with sand and shells (the bottle, a bakeapple syrup bottle and the shells did indeed come from Newfoundland, as we made a long overdue visit back home this past summer). Her poem titled "The Rock" captures some of the sights and sounds that we can hold in our hearts forever. Submitted by Mom, Cynthia Pynn The Rock by Morgan Pynn Shhh...Listen to the waves crashing against the rocks. Eagles are calling in the distance as the boat leaves the shoreline. A bright yellow dory bobbing softly on the waves and the gentle breeze kissing your face. Peer down, the water is clear like a diamond - Jellyfish, starfish, treasures of all kinds shallow enough to choose from the ocean's gift shop. Surrounded by nature's beauty arches, icebergs, whales, coves and lighthouses. Something to never forget. To think that John Cabot discovered this wondrous place A beautiful island paradise...The Rock. Submitted By: NULL
