The Right Remote
I was reading an article in your May Downhome about using a remote in areas where R.F. transmission is prohibited, e.g. airplanes, etc. He was surprised that a small remote could endanger a plane. I think we should obey signs where it says do not use remotes or cell phones, because I had an experience with a remote from a satellite dish. I purchased a satellite dish a few years ago; I installed it myself, and while I was using the remote, getting used to the satellite receiver and TV, my wife asked me why I had the car started. I said, "I haven't started the car." She said, "The car is started." Sure enough, the car was started. I shut it off with the remote that belonged to the car, then I took the remote belonging to the TV again, and started the car the second time. I was in my living room. The keys for the car were in the kitchen on the cabinets. So we should obey signs where it says the use of cell phones or remotes in prohibited. Submitted By: NULL
