The Oven – Fortune Bay
This photo would certainly be known as a "hot spot" of Fortune. Anyone growing up in Fortune, Fortune Bay would no doubt have been in the "Oven" which is just outside Fortune Head. It has been known as the "Oven" for many years and a scary place to be at times, especially when there is an ocean swell. At low tide, one can go in almost the length of a dory, but make sure you don't get caught in there when the tide is rising, or one would be trapped and never get out. I have been in there many times with friends, but it was always a scary time, and we were always careful to watch the tides and swell. It has been rumored that there is a beach at the end of the "Oven," but I have never gone to the end to find out. Maybe some of your readers can confirm if there is a beach at the end or not.
