My sister had taken the pic to the right in this graphic., one that really struck a cord with me in which stirred me to take an old picture and blend the two together and write this poem.<br /> <br /> The Janes' Open Hearse from Carbonear is a piece of Janes' history. My Dad as well as his brothers use to drive the hearse for their father. In seeing the old hearse, I wonder how many stories will be lost within those spokes.<br /> <br /> Lock within the past<br /> Life is done the race<br /> Riding to its destination<br /> To a final resting place<br /> <br /> If the spokes could talk<br /> The stories they could tell<br /> Of the roads they traveled<br /> The life they did dispel<br /> <br /> It is all but gone<br /> Just faded in the past<br /> Soon for it to die<br /> With stories that could last<br /> <br /> Life it passes quickly<br /> Savor, as it's grown<br /> So history can be remembered<br /> It's story to be known.<br />   Submitted By: Melanie Bates
