On a frozen windswept headland By a roaring, restless sea Stands a lonely weathered cottage That has stood a century Above that tiny cottage In that cloud swept, moonlit sky The wind is howling, moaning Like a banshee's mournful cry Inside the humble cottage By a tiny flickering light Sits an old man in a rocker As he listens to the night His head slumps down in fitful sleep As he dreams of days gone by When family gathered round him And he was just a boy And once again he travels back To sunsets by the sea And calm blue days in the sun's warm rays And times that can never be The happiness and joys they shared Are distant memories now The hardships and the sorrows And all that life allows And as he sits there dreaming With the wild night overhead A warm glow fills the cottage And a soft hand touches his A peaceful calm comes over him As his lonely life is done Then he's swept up into heaven His eternity begun Don Legge Mount Pearl   Submitted By: NULL
