The Narrows
My husband and I spent fourteen marvelous days in your "bonny land" this past summer. I had always wanted to visit Newfoundland sometime in my life, as my father was stationed here for World War II, as a young man leaving home in Hamilton, Ontario going out to fight for his country. He often spoke of going through the Narrows, as he left St. John's Harbour heading out to fight for peace. How he must have felt: fear, homesickness for the safety of his mother's arms, but also an excitement of honour which must come form serving your country. So with that thought on my mind and the openness of an adventure, we flew out of the Hamilton Airport and eastward toward the Atlantic on July 21, 2003. What I found blew me away. Such raw beauty of coastlines, shores, towns and their kinfolks. We found it quite breathtaking. Submitted By: NULL
