The Face in the Mountain

A picture is of a face in the side of a mountain, known as Blow Me Down Mountain, on the inner section of Portland Creek pond which is located near Portland Creek & Daniel's Harbour on the Northern Peninsula. This face is very large and takes up a huge portion of the side of the mountain. Looking at the face from the pond, it appears as if someone scaled the mountain and carved out the face by hand, but of course it's the handy work of good old Mother Nature.
This face is located in a very secluded area. Portland Creek Pond is a seven mile pond and at the end of which, leads you to a very narrow shallow passage with many large rocks to maneuver. Once you have conquered "Between The Ponds" as it is known as, you then enter one of the most pristine & scenic breathtaking sites there is to encounter on the Northern Peninsula of NL. It is here where your first reaction is to take a big deep breath and try to digest the sites that you are about to pursue. This part of the pond is also Hugh and they say that it is not known if it even has a bottom to it, which gives you an indication of its depth. In the wintertime this section of the pond is usually very late to freeze over, which in turn can deter even the most avid ski-dooer. In the summertime, one can witness waterspouts spraying dutifully across the pond wavering at the base of these large mountains.
Here you will find the face of Portland Creek Pond. The picture is very lifelike and I bet if it could only talk, it could tell many stories of the various wildlife and waterspouts that it has witnessed over the many many years in which it has watched so closely over the inner portion of Portland Creek Pond.
