"I work in a nursing home in Rexdale, Ontario. I have worked there for many years and am very well liked there as I am about to relate to you. Well, the day started as usual. In at work by 8am and on with the chores of the day. Around 3pm that afternoon while I was in the middle of an activity with my residents a staff member came bursting into the room and in an excited voice reminded me to stay calm and to stay where I was. She went on to tell me not to worry that they were taking care of things for me. My nerves were been tested and I was starting to shake. ""What's wrong?"" I asked. Getting an aswer was like trying to pull nails with your teeth, very unsuccessful. She pleaded with my not to go downstairs but gave no reason as to why not. By now I had to go for my on sanity. As I neared the elevator a resident came around the corner and told me to go hide underneath her bed, she was sure things would be over soon. Now I was really scared and curious. I had to see what was going on. I decided to take the stairs. Wrong move. I encountered many other staff and residents who encouraged me to turn back but I trudged onward. It was becoming a scene from an Alfred Hitchcott movie. Finally I made it to the main floor and exited with great caution to the reception area. There I saw what I was being protected from. Standing there in full police attire and looking quite mean was Ron Young, yes Ron you.You had stopped by to drop of some past editions of the Downhomer for me to circulate to our Newfies living in the home. You were what I had to be protected from. I shared the story with you and we had a great laugh. Everybody had been afaird you were there to take me away. For what reason they thought I needed protection still escapes me but that day I not only felt scared but greatly loved as well. After all there was a big, bad policeman waiting for me and a bunch of frail elderly were willing to stand between you and me, now that's caring. That's my story.
