The Ahern Trader
It was very interesting, as I was reading the November edition of the Downhome magazine, to see “Community Reflections” on page 138 and see what’s left of the Ahern Trader transport vessel. I thought I might add a little more of the story. Myself and a few more of the stevedores who worked on the CNR dock in Lewisporte at that time were the last ones to finish loading the Ahern Trader with “hay” on the 4-12 shift and secure the hatches before it sailed that night. We heard the next day or the day after that it had ran aground in Frederickton, N.L. Submitted By: NULL
