Thanks to Downhome
I must relate this incident to you to show how the Downhome magazine works.
Today, March 4, 2025 while I was preparing my lunch, my telephone rang. No Name/ No number.
I answered it, “This is Mr. Greening’s residence.”
Other end, “Is this Mr. Austin Greening?”
I answer, “Yes, I am he.”
Other end, “The last time I spoke to you I called you ‘Sir.’ That was about 70 years ago.”
I said, “With whom am I speaking?”
He said, “This is Roland Genge.”
I said, “Dr. Roland Genge who was in my Grade 6 class at the North School in Glovertown in 1957-58!”
That was my first year teaching. Principal of a two-room elementary school at age 17.
Dr. Genge has spent over 50 years as a family doctor in Baddeck, NS.
The conversation went on from there, but it all came about from ‘Story Time' on pg. 103 in the March edition of Downhome.
Take Care,
Austin Greening
Clarenville, NL
