Dear Downhome; I would like to thank your staff for printing a letter I wrote earlier and was published in the April edition of Downhome, "Looking for Faye Moss," page 13. I am so grateful you did and so happy I took the chance that your readers might be able to help. Within a couple hours of one of your readers seeing the article in Ontario, before it even got to the shelves in Newfoundland, I got a call from Faye's cousin. I then got a few more calls and within 24 hours I was actually speaking to Faye herself. She is living in the U.S. and was elated that I had found her. We had a grand chat, but still have so much to catch up on. There was a very happy and sad side to the reunion. The happy part was not only finding her but to know that in 1967, her mom and dad actually moved from Arnold's Cove to Pasadena, Newfoundland, 20 minutes away from where I live in Corner Brook. Faye had no idea that four years after she left St. John's, my mom moved to British Columbia, but for the past 27 years before her passing was living in Corner Brook. I am actually going to visit Faye's mom in Pasadena this week. I have had a few chats with her mom since I've been talking to Faye, as her mom is now 88. Faye is actually only two years older than me, but I guess as a young girl I thought she was a tad older than that. The sad thing is that Faye visits her mom in Pasadena nearly every summer. She was only 20 minutes from Mom and we never knew it. So, so sad; it broke my heart to know that Mom could have visited with her so often. Faye says she has a pair of opal earrings that my mom gave her all those years ago and she still wears them. How sweet is that? Faye will be in Pasadena in July of this year and we plan to see each other . Oh, the yarns we'll have. Again, I say thank you with all my heart, and I know my mom knows I've found her.
