Thank God We’re Surrounded By Water
This is a photo of a Labour Day parade that was taken in my home town of Windsor, NL in 1972 by my father. Nearly every business in the town at that time had a float of some sort taking part in the parade and that made the parade long and exciting seeing the different colors, shapes, sizes. The sirens of different emergency vehicles kept you wide awake for sure.
This float was submitted by Riff's department store and it had a group of ladies doing an all nighter fluffing flowers to cover the entire float at the local armouries. The design for the float as you can see should makes us ALL proud to be a Newfoundlander. Don't you agree?
"Thank God We're Surrounded By Water" was their title and that song was playing through a speaker from the top of the float.
