Once there was a sunset on the big bay.
Glorious and full of splendour
Deep orange-red with tinted clouds
Sinking sunset beneath horizon waters and spruce-clad hills
Beyond the "Isle of Inismara"
Red reflected waters of the bay...calm and quiet...
Promising a beautiful new tomorrow

Once there was a river
Rushing, white capped o'er rocky crags and weed festoon'ed logs
Rushing, wildly magnificent
Past haunts of salmon, smuggler's caves and island of buried treasure
Wildly rushing in whirlpools
Beneath the sentinel, massive rock-face of “Pirate’s Eye”

Once there was a lake
Sheltered by verdant slopes of sylvan beauty
Skirted by soft sands...island studded, haven of youth’s adventures
Thirst quenching haunt of deer and moose

Once there was a mountain - higher than Everest
Snow topped, gigantic
Sheer rock-face blending into soft sloping evergreens
Rising from shoreline to embrace the clouds

Once there was a boy
Who lived and laughed and loved the beauty of his playground kingdom
Alpine mountaineer. Explorer of islands. swimmer of the deep
Fisherman
All these things and more
That was his heritage

But then that boy grew up and went away
He left the bay, the river, lake and mountain
To seek new places, new adventures
He had matured
There was a big world beyond the sunset on the bay

He travelled far and wide
To teeming cities reaching to the skies
Pavement-bound mazes of wonder
By super ribboned highways, out into the sunset of the west
Great new horizons, limitless, unbound
From place to place he fled, but never rested
For always in pursuit,
The “Hound of Heaven” that was home

The years went y
And still he sought new places and new friends

The Arctic snows and Latin lands
Oriental rice fields with sentinel volcanoes
To him were commonplace

Friends came and went...
The rolling stone rolled on
But still the call...come home!
Come back and see the sunset on the bay
Come listen to the silence of the mountain
