Tenting in the Twenties <br /> <br /> Summer tenting has always been a very popular outdoor sport. Today it continues to be a favourite outdoor activity, especially among young people and families. Our family tented extensively through the 1970s, but apparently it was also very popular way back in the early 1920s, in my parent's era.<br /> <br /> This old photo, taken in 1929, shows my parents, Cyril and Olive Cornick from St. Johns, tenting with a group of friends. Today, of course, camping gear has much improved, with lighter materials and more modern cooking facilities. But the fun was still the same. <br /> <br /> L to R: Olive Smith, unidentified, Ian Cowan, Leslie Smith, Ada Cornick, and Cyril Cornick.
