Tales From Away-The Beauty of Kindness~

Tales From Away-The Beauty of Kindness~

I have experienced it and seen it with my very own eyes. The nicer I look and/or dress for the day the nicer I get treated. I don’t think that the human race is shallow per se; it’s just in our nature to see and pick the shiniest, reddest apple of a bunch. Just like ‘the early bird catches the worm’, the nicer the appearance the better we get treated. I’ve had many more doors held willingly for me when I’m in my business or get together attire, then when I’m in my yoga sweats and a pony tail.

It’s almost like people think to themselves, well he/she really made an effort today so they merit more respect. But I also believe that the more effort that we put into our appearance the more confidence we feel and exude. If I don’t have my face done up, I usually throw some sunglasses on. But if I have to take them off, I’m more reserved and shy. I used to say to my wonderful former coworkers in the morning, “don’t come to see me yet until I get my face on”-they really got a kick out of that! It’s my shield and it reminds me of the song/poem “Eleanor Rigby wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door.”

But beauty is definitely in the ‘eye of the beholder’. I personally have known some really good looking people that don’t portray that same beauty from the inside, therefore I don’t find them attractive. I also personally know people that may not be that beautiful on the outside but I find them attractive because the beauty shines from within. “Beauty is only skin deep-a pleasing appearance is not a guide to character (proverb).” Kindness is attractive to me, which always brings me back to the Conan O’Brien quote, “If you work really hard, and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.”

We’re all unique in our own way and there’s something different to love in each and every one of us. It’s best to always try and find the good in people rather than dwell on their flaws, because we all have flaws. Some more than others and maybe some more visible than others, but we do all have them. No one’s perfect and we should always strive to become better people and accept and acknowledge our flaws. For they are a part of us and make us who we are. I believe we shouldn’t strive for perfection to get ahead in this world but rather be the best, nicest, kindest person we can be.

Take care (“be kind to one another”-Ellen DeGeneres) & all the best!

~Celeste

www.talesfromaway
Submitted By: Alicia "Celeste" Loughrey
