Tales From Away-Music Moves Me~

Tales From Away-Music Moves Me~

And every day as I listen to music
And share in the feelings to my delight
I gain a whole new respect for the genre
And want to hold on to it even more tight

The above excerpt is from a poem entitled Music Emotion, was written by fellow poet John Cornick-Halifax, Nova Scotia (a former resident of Newfoundland).

I wrote a short story for an entry test into College English and later entered it into a contest for the Toronto Star. It didn't get chosen but it's still near and dear to my heart. I remember when I started writing it, the words just flowed as I'm very passionate about music; and without it, I would be unhappy I believe. Here are a few pertinent paragraphs from the submission.

In the words of LL Cool J while hosting the 2014 Grammy Awards, Music unleashes us.

My absolute favorite of all music genres is Classic Country. Growing up in Newfoundland-Canada, my parents always listened to the old country. Even though I tried to avoid listening to it for a long time, it eventually won its way back to my heart and soul. Every Saturday night I like to have a glass of wine and listen to the old songs from my youth on The Cabin Party-VOCM. The older the song the better these days; it's amazing how music can be held on to and carried from one century to another. The New country is fun and more upbeat but I love listening to the words and emotions form the old old classic country. I love taking the Grand Tour with George Jones and Standing by my Man with Tammy Wynette; their talented music legacy will live on for decades to come.

When I'm in a bit of a downer mood I like to listen to Elevator Music. For Retail the type of music that is playing or blaring is suited to the type of product or products each store sells. We have tonnes of music and songs to choose from as according to Googlewhen asked the question How many songs are there in the world?; the first answer that popped up was there are 97 million and counting. You can go anywhere in the world and even though you may not speak a word of another countrys language, you can always communicate through music. In the words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Music is the universal language of mankind.

Take care (& always have music in your life) and all the best~Celeste

www.talesfromaway.com Submitted By: Alicia "Celeste" Loughrey
