Tales From Away-Love To Learn Something New Every Day~
I use a few Mantras but this is one that I can call my very own-one that I invented. I love to learn something new every day,it's my mantra and it's very true!

They (the infamous they) say that what's meant for you won't pass you by and that everything happens for a reason. Even though it took a really long time for me to actually believe it, it IS actually true. Another relevant quote, you don't know how much you miss it, until it's gone!

I have worked since I was a young teenager; started off babysitting my cousins in the summers, then the local take-out and then I got a real job after I left MUN (Memorial University of Newfoundland) and came to Toronto. I did work in a Donut Shop first for a short time on my arrival, but that didn't last too long until I landed my job at a company I would work my way up in. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts Tales From Away~A NLer living in Ontario-My 1st blog and my Compass Newspaper article Looking for work a new frontier, my company of 25 years moved 80% of it's office staff back to the US. So I had to find a new job and trust me, it wasn't an easy task at all.

One can be over qualified and under qualified for jobs out there. While I was looking for an office job (because I didn't want to lose my acquired skills), I even took on a cleaning lady job this past summer. And let me tell you, even though it's hard work and not much pay, I'm really really glad I tried it. I learned a lot from those talented hard working ladies-they taught me how to clean my house properly and thoroughly. I made some new friends and I learned some new skills-some new skills that saves me time and money with my own house. I wasn't cut out for it, my heart wasn't into it, but no regrets and I'm glad I tried it.

I've recently started a wonderful office contract job for a luxury cosmetic's company and so far I am loving it. I can't believe how much I've learned in the past three weeks. I feel like a sponge some days, absorbing as much knowledge as my brain can handle. I am a little weary and scared of new technology and change, but I know that I have to roll with it and I will benefit from it in the end. I really appreciate getting up early in the morning these days and I can't wait to go to work to see what new things I will learn.

That's also why I like taking courses, to learn new things. A former co worker expressed how he liked taking courses for the same reasons and to always better and improve oneself. I have mentioned before on a previous blog how I love the interaction and hearing different opinions of all the students of different ages and ethnicities. I plan to always make time in my life to take courses and improve myself-easier said than done I know but we have to push ourselves.

My advice is to take as many courses as you can, to keep your mind strong

I am and I hope I always will be an eternal student. I also hope I will continue to love to learn something new every day!

Take care (& continue to learn new things) and all the best~Celeste Submitted By: Alicia "Celeste" Loughrey
