Tales From Away-Just go for a walk~
As I went for a nice jog/walk today I was reminded of my sweet grandmother Delaney who would walk everywhere she went. Instead of taking medication when you have a headache, if you were down, even vexed (as she used to say for being upset with someone), or if you just needed to clear your head, try going for a walk instead she would tell us.

I have learned over the years (and from nan), a brisk walk heals all ailments-just like saltwater heals everything! It’s amazing how refreshing and healing the fresh air and the salt water is; even better when you have both at the same time. For those of us lucky enough to grow up near an ocean, you know what I’m talking about..

For someone who doesn’t like to be cooped up inside and loves to be outdoors re my blog “Were you born in a barn?†and my poem “Let Me Be Outsideâ€, a walk is one of the greatest benefits available to us. A brisk walk allows the opportunity of exercise and the fresh air all at once. It allows us to clear our mind at one point but it also allows us to mull things over if we need to. We can listen to our selected playlist and our favorite tunes, or we can even have a phone conversation while walking; not like ‘back in the day’ when we could only move as far as the phone cord would allow us.

If jogging/running is not your forte, speed walking is another option or just a nice brisk walk. Get away from the computer and the office on your breaks and lunches and try to fit in a walk or two. Before you relax before the TV at night, a nice quick walk after dinner does the body good. Get out and about as much as you can I say and as our grandmother Delaney proved ‘a brisk walk heals all ailments’.

Take care (and just go for a walk) and all the best~Celeste

www.talesfromaway.com Submitted By: Alicia "Celeste" Loughrey
