Tales From Away-Fall is My Favorite Color~
Today is the first day of my favorite season-Fall. I love the burnt oranges, yellows, greens and reds of the autumn season all mixed up and entwined.

I love going for a walk on a fall day, the air is a mixture of warm and cold so just right, just like Baby Bear's porridge in Goldilocks. Many of my happiest childhood memories are of my friends and I walking to the secluded beach on a fall day and singing songs-they taught me most of the songs I used to sing to my son. I miss them! I miss our walks, talks and songs. By going for a walk on a fall day, I get to reminisce about those times. Those memories are more precious than gold to me.

The shedding of the leaves is one of the main features that I actually enjoy. There's something therapeutic about raking, it's like you can get some aggression out if needed at the time. To top it off, you can even jump in the pile of leaves at the end if it catches your fancy-or if you want to feel like a kid again.

The vegetables/fruits of the season are colorful like the trees; the orange pumpkins, the yellow and green squashes, and the red apples. It's a harvest season where our ancestors would pick the fruits of the earth to prepare for the harsh winters. They are usually displayed on the Thanksgiving table sitting in a cornucopia-horn of plenty. Teachers have the elementary children color pictures of the cornucopia and vegetables to take home and be displayed at Thanksgiving dinner. Thanksgiving is my favorite family get together but that is another blog all in itself.

The other day I wrote the above linked poem about being happy that fall was here but a little sad that summer is over with. I do get a little rueful with the change of each season and not sure why. I embrace change but still struggle a little with the thought of it at the same time, if that makes sense. I do wish fall lasted longer though, as it seems to be only a short stepping stone between summer and winter; maybe that's why I get a little sad;If I could vote to take a month off of Summer and Winter each to make Fall longer, I would surely do that-but you can't bargain with Mother Nature~

Back goes the shorts and tank tops that are to be put away
Out comes the sweater weather clothes to be worn on a crisp day

Take care (enjoy Fall) and all the best~Celeste Submitted By: Alicia "Celeste" Loughrey
