Squid Jiggin’ in Northern Bay
I'm glad I got to go squid jiggin' at least once in my life
On that particular day the squid were mighty rife
It was a bit scary being out on the deep dark water
But it made Dad proud to take out his niece and his daughter
Me and my Sista' Mary each had a jigger and were havin' lots of fun
We were competing to see how many we could jig and I think she won
They were slimy and messy and we were afraid to take them off the hook
We got inked by a few and cried like a 'sook'
I didn't like or appreciate it then but now dressing stuffed squid I crave
Lightly battered Calamari as an app is also one of my faves
I look back and I'm very thankful for the Newfoundland experiences I had
I was so lucky to have been able to grow up on such a fine land~
