Springtime
Mar. 22/11
A poem from my book entitled Slices of Life. I had this booklet published and copyrighted in 1997, while residing at Elliot Lake, Ontario.
I would like to share this poem with your reading subscribers. I've recently written about 15 more, and plan to have all poems (approximately 61) republished if I can find a publisher willing to do them. They deal with all aspects of life (birthdays, anniversaries, war, death, loneliness, seasons, etc.).
Springtime
The icy breath of winter
No longer cools our land -
For Springtime has returned again
With her warm and nurturing hand.
The lifeless ground is soon revived
By April's quenching days -
And plants sprout high above the soil
Enticed by the sun's warm rays.
Early morning sunrise
And buds upon the trees -
All signs of life's resurgence
Now that nature is at ease.
Insects are most active
As they prepare for summer's bliss
And birds and other creatures
Make sounds we should not miss.
Yes, Springtime is upon us
And signs are everywhere!
Let us thank God for His kindness
As we say a joyful prayer.
