Spread Eagle Secrets
Tucked-away inside Old Shop,
this treasure is a favourite spot,
for cabin-owners and their kin,
who’ll welcome you, if you drop in.
Resettled from a full-time role,
it keeps part-timers in its fold,
and while some livyers grace its banks,
it’s, otherwise, for seasonal ranks.
Two ponds provide a peaceful place,
for many wharves, upon their face,
where boaters can enjoy the ride,
close to the spot, where they reside.
The Trinity sea is handy, to
a scene that’s harboured quite a crew,
of fishers in their boats of prey,
pursuing fish within the Bay.
Upon the wharf, in old Dildo,
my grandkids like to try their throw,
and catch a sculpin or tomcod,
with spinning reel and fishing rod.
Then, on the beach, within their reach,
are harbour treasures, there, that teach
them combing, every inch,
‘til yielding shells becomes a cinch.
Eagles spread their wings nearby,
as nests on cliffs they occupy;
from areas such as these they prey,
on other birds upon the bay.
Dildo Island is in sight,
from every angle in this bight;
it has a story all its own,
that, up to now, was not well-known.
The name is taken from the peak,
or, vice versa, so to speak;
but as the eagle soars above,
we know it’s him they’re talking of.
