Spout Cove Beached Whale
The news spread rapidly down the shore that a small whale beached in Spout Cove
In our big station wagon we all gathered and up we drove
It was a sight to see for sure and I felt sorry for the poor thing
It makes you wonder how it got there and why for the tide to bring
Someone had cut out its eye for a trophy I guess
There were also slashes, cuts and chunks of missing flesh
We stood, walked on its solid back and for pictures we posed
I often wondered how long it took to decompose
Was the meat at least used or from it perfume to be made
Maybe it just stayed there and slowly decayed
