“Spirit Of My Ancestors”
I close my eyes and I can see
The spirits of my family,
Keeping watch over me come what may
They keep me safe even to this day.
They take the shape of a crow or an eagle
Maybe even my horse or beagle.
They tell me to be brave in times of danger
To help the weak and even a stranger.
The spirit of the battles both faught and won
The losses were counted when each day's done,
To spread love to each and every man
Would be carried out over this great land.
I've lived my life according to these
Oh to be soaring above the evergreen trees,
To join my friends on eagle wings
Then I too can surely sing.
