Snoopy My Friend
A photo of my son Gordon when he was younger, and his dog Snoopy. They were both resting on his Nan and Pop Burt's bridge after a fun day. Snoopy was killed a short time later by a car. Pop Burt wrote a song for Gordon, sung to the same tune as "Old Shep." Here is the song; hope you enjoy it. Pop Burt (Chesley Gordon Burt) is 78 now and still loves to write.
Snoopy My Friend
When I was a lad and little Snoop was a pup down on Nana's lawn we did play. We used to roll over little Snoopy and I oh how I miss him today.
Little Snoop he was wise to all traffic you know. He always stopped and looked both ways. He thought as he sat by the side of the road he was safe from all traffic that day.
Little Snoop was sitting by the side of the road waiting for me and my. Along came a car with a mean man inside and ran over Snoopy there and then.
Now little Snoop he is gone where all good doggies go and no more with little Snoop will I play. If dogs got a Heaven there's one thing I know I'll see little Snoopy some day.
