My sister, Theresa, and I grew up in Corner Brook. We left in the 70s for work as many others had to at the time. I recall as kids asking each other "if they would leave the island for the mainland?" The most popular answer, of course, was. "No boy, I'm never leaving the island!" We fell into that category, however, economics forced us to the mainland. Theresa lives in Cambridge, ON with her husband, Clary Knott (also from Corner Brook) and three lovely daughters, son-in-law and first grandchild, Ayden. Their home away from home is a favourite of Bell Islanders' and has a great Newfoundland Club. I live in Red Rock ON with my husband, Mark, and our three Chihuahuas. Our youngest daughter is away at school in Barrie, ON and oldest in Ucluelet, BC with my grandson, Dylan, who at two years of age, has developed a love of the Pacific Ocean. In the past two years, we have managed to spend some down time together at Elizabeth Lake where we fish and reminisce about our adventures back home. One thing for sure is we all love Newfoundland and display our flag proudly. It also attracts other Newfoundlanders and the like to drop in for a tale or two.   Submitted By: Mil Stever
