Similiar to The Train From St John’s To Trepassey (Circa1920’s- 1930’s)

The Train like the one Pictured ran between 1913 and 1931. It connected the Newfoundland Railway’s main line at St. John’s with the outport of Trepassey.
Michael Patrick Cashin Politician for Ferryland district, Turned the first Sod on May 12 1911.Michael was instrumental in getting a Train Route to Trepassey.

It was only fitting that He would be the One to turn the first Sod at Waterford Bridge.
I often wondered were there any Train Spotters back in those Days.
Did Kids run out of their Houses along the Shore and Spot the Beauty picking Up Steam with The Black Coal Smoke Belching from her Stack.
My Cousin Jim told me that Our Uncle Ben as a Young Lad got paid to follow along the Track as it was leaving Trepassey and help keep the Sparks from the Hot Burning Coal not to start a fire with the Alders growing Close to the Trestle.
Uncle Ben would follow in a Jog with a Shovel.Crafty Fella.Wonder if He practiced  his Tap Dance in his Spare Time. The Late Mrs Devereaux said her Dad took the Train to Town a few Times.
Probably not enough people to keep it Profitable.
When it comes down to it.It is all about the Money.
I am told my GrandFather Kennedy worked as a Brake Man
for a while. Not sure where he was Employed.I remember he loved to Sing
The Number Nine song that Jim Reeves made famous about a Train Crash.
Guess we will be waiting for a while for the next Train to Tepassey
