Silver Lace
Mirrors, reflections of silver -
Light, water, life
sparkling on and around me.
The white lines, once purple and red,
are sweetly deceiving,
for when the light shines on me,
I am laced with silver,
shrouded with gentle beauty.
The web covers the center of my body,
along with a wolf’s touch,
since life came forth from it.
These are noble signatures;
for certain, webs and wolves
are both mystical and strong,
teaching us intelligence,
and that the world should go on.
The privilege to have (and to know)
a body like mine is an instrument
of life instruction, life worth,
is a gift not to be forsaken:
God’s greatest creatures have blessed me,
cradled my living treasures for months,
and have forever draped across me
a shining film of silver lace.
