Silky Seal
Silky Seal Wrote this early 2023 after taking a walk down by the water in Botwood watching the ice come into the harbour. . . On a cold and dark December night I walked around the town, I'm surprised by the eeriness just spreading out all round. So as I strolled down by the river someone was sitting there, Then a funny little squeaking sound escaped into the air. The squeak came from a silky seal just sitting on the beach, He said the closest ice flow was just out of his reach. I said "hey little fellow how long you been down here", He said "I hate to say it ma'am, but I've been down here all year" I put him in a boat and rowed off from the shore , We found the nearest ice flow about a mile out or more. I laid him on the ice flow and he thanked me for the ride, The last I saw of silky seal he was drifting with the tide.
