Military Policeman, Sgt. Reg Garnier, while stationed in St. John's, Buckmasters Circle, NL, on one of his many trips across NL. In this 1963 photo, Grand Falls - Windsor, he takes time to go on a successful fishing trip. During the 1960's, many Newfoundlanders enrolled in the military (Rangers, Cadets, etc.)for the clothing issue that they wore in the woodlots and out in the bay while inshore finshing. My Father's job as a Military policeman, was to collect the clothing that was issued to the resourseful Newfoundlanders that took the clothing issue but did not show up for military training. Because, times were tough in the province, many Newfoundlanders enrolled in the military for the issues, and to my Father's delight, got to see the beautiful island hidden jems that otherwise, he would not have seen while collecting the military property.   Submitted By: Robert Garnier
