Seven Days Before Christmas
"Dear Sir: This poem was written five years ago by the sister of 2 ladies living in Lewisporte who are all seniors. The tale told in this poem is a true story. Seven Day Before Christmas Twas seven days before Christmas Armorel had to go out Are you coming Myrtle?, she called with a shout. Myrtle, you know I am eighty and You're seventy-eight so let's get a move on Before it gets too late. There are lots of old people who are ill and shut in who sit lonely and waiting for us to come in It is Christmas you know and our part we must do some day we'll be like them and need someone's help too. Myrtle peeked in the mirror ""My gawkes, waht a sight!"" so she ran up the stairs to make herself right On goes the lipstick as quick as a wink and then that old perfume ""my gawkes, waht a stink""! Then she turned with a jerk looking fit as a fiddle with her comb in her hand just to give that last twiddle She ran to the stairs with a skip and a hop not even realizing how soon she would drop Down over the stairs she came with a tumble ""Oh my gawkes, I am killed"" she started to mumble In the kitchen meanwhile the old folks did talk when they were interrupted by myrtles loud squawk. Armorel ran to the stairwell ""Myrtle you are killed, you are dead ""i'm not dead"" Myrtle shouted, I just struck my head. So they all gathered around her a sight to behold With one leg over the railing her head down below. They pulled and they tugged until they got her released as she lay on the sofa her bruises increased. As the hours wnt by their worries set in so they called for the doctor he said ""bring her right in"". They called for a taxi said, ""come right away, Myrtle fell over the staircase and could be passing away When they got to the clinic the doctor was ready as she was led to his office she was very unsteady He examined her back her legs and her arm as he twisted her head said, there's no need for alarm. I can find nothing broken but just to be sure I'll send you for x rays I can do nothing more Well, she had seven x-rays from her head to her toes there was nothing broken so away Myrtle goes They got back to the driveway with a clammer and clatter neighbours sprang from their couches to see what was the matter They heard her exlaim as she went in, out of sight Merry Christmas to all in spite of our fright Jean King Lewisporte" Submitted By: NULL
