Screechers 2001

I was born in Lamaline, on the Burin Peninsula, and moved to Edmonton five years ago. I just wanted to let you and your readers know that here in Edmonton we are keeping the Newfoundland spirit alive. I have attached a picture of our softball team sporting our new jerseys. The front of the jersey shows the map of Newfoundland and on the back we wear the Newfoundland flag with our name above it. Most of the team is from the Burin Peninsula, but we have recruited a couple from Edmonton and one from New Brunswick who are also proud to wear the Newfoundland team logo on their jersey. This past season we have placed first in our league and have travelled outside Edmonton to participate in other recreational tournaments. Wherever we went people always came up to us with positive comments on our jerseys and our team spirit.
