We chose to spend our vacation this summer sailing from N.S. to Newfoundland. It was our first visit and we were so excited to see "The Rock." Our summer had been exceptionally foggy, but we still had high hopes to capture Newfoundland in the sun. We left Louisbourg and headed across the Cabot Strait. Our crossing was magnificant. We had never seen so many sunfish and porpoises. A tiny puffin curiously circled our sailboat. It was as if the marine life were saying, "Hey follow us, we're going to Newfoundland too. Come on!" We've been told by many of her majestic beauty, but upon seeing Newfoundland in all her glory, as the fog gave way to the warm afternoon sun, we became speechless and in awe. Our first landfall was in Ramea where we encountered wonderful locals. A young lad on a bike presented us with our first Downhome magazine. The magazine was one of many "Downhome" experiences we fell in love with during our stay on the Rock. We were able to enjoy two spectacular weeks of weather and people and eagerly await to return to your beautiful "Rock," Newfoundland.
