Rusty Red

The rusty stains run down along
the shelving slope of lichened cliff
From ancient grapnels stored on top
that once had moored the harbour's skiffs

Once mooring skiffs on collar in
the shelter of the island's lee
Or mooring cod traps in their berths
but now just relics stored to see

By folks who come in summertime
and photograph this stretch of shore
And like the purpose of the cove
their use is gone forever more
