Raising the Line
I have been active in the preservation of NFLD Railway history for 20 years. In 1986 my family and I rode the mixed train from Corner Brook to Bishops Falls and return. On this journey I met Mont Lingard and have since assisted him with the four “New Stop” books. For the past 19 years I have visited NFLD 30 times and have continued to research the railway. Ten years ago my son Mike and I rode the rail bed on mt. bikes and met rod and ron kelly. each year we spend a couple of days in Howley where the Kelly’s run a store and hotel. Ron Kelly supervises the raising of a telephone line pole that documents the importance of telegraph and later telephone communications along the NFLD railway. Not the well-built track to the right of Ron’s new pole line. Photo by Ursula Shufelt. Pole haulers (l-r) Dan Shufelt, Mike Shufelt, Tedd Kotredes, ? Submitted By: NULL
