Ptarmigan
One of many Labrador winter birds. They are completely dressed in white feathers, even their feet. The feathers on their feet make it more comfortable for walking on soft snow without sinking. The layer of thick feathers on the outside keeps the snow and wind out. The inside layer keeps the heat in. They seemed to be relaxed and comfortable eating the willows around where I live. They make beautiful cards and pictures...makes a great pot of soup as well. Submitted By: Norma Mesher Knight
