"i have some very dear friends, karen who is polish and larry who is a newfie. they have been happily married for many years and as you can imagine, which nationality the joke is about quite often depends on who hears the joke first. anyway, a few years ago they owned a store in northern ontario on the transcanada highway. one morning after that terrible ice storm in quebec that all but crippled many parts of the province, larry was standing at the window drinking his coffee when a huge truck pulled up with a load of hydro poles headed for quebec. of course karen who was busy at the cash register hadn't seen this truck, so when larry said"" look, a truck full of 'poles' headed for quebec"", karens immediate reply was, ""how do you know they're poles?"" i still chuckle when i think of this story because i can really picture the image karen had in her head at that moment. of course, larry almost died laughing."   Submitted By: NULL
